REFORM PARTY.

CONFIDENCE OF MR. MASSEY. COMING SESSION. (By Telegraph.—Special to “Star.”) WELLINGTON, June 13. Other people are not so sanguine, but the Premier, after his flying visits to Auckland and Taranaki, says he is pleased with., the prospects ahead of the Reform Party. Asked to-day what he thought of matters from a political point of view as a> result of his tour through the country, Mr Massey replied : “While I was not out on party business, I can honestly say that 1 do not believe that I was ever received with so much enthusiasm as on xqy recent visit round the country. Ido not believe the Government ever stood so well with the electors as it does at present. My reception in Taranaki was extraordinarily cordial.” Regarding the coming session, the premier said the Government’s legislative programme is well forward. Mr jVlassej possesses some claim to be an optimist, but in view of the campaigns which are being conducted .by the Liberal and Labour Parties, it may be that his optimism is somewhat selfdeceptive. On this occasion, at any rate, there is every prospect that he is in for a lively session, to which everyone is loking forward with keen interest. It is fairly certain that non-party legisaltion will take up a considerable share Of members’ time, and if the Governmentsurvives the attacks during the address-in-reply debate, which, it is stated, will be marked by numerous cunningly devised Labour amendments, the probability .is that the sreal test will hofc come until the taxation reduction proposals come down. However, the Premier professes to be unperturbed by the prospects, and, says that if other people want to make things willing he is ready to oblige.
