FIGURES FOR MAY

FARMERS IN THE ASCENDENCY. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, June 13. There were sixty-five insolvencies recorded in the Dominion last month, compared with 61 in April and 67 in March. The figures for May, compared with those of the corresponding month of the proceeding three years, show as follow : May, 1924, sixty-five; 1923, sixto-two; 1922, eighty; 1921, thirty-three. A feature of last month, apart from the bankruptcies of farmers, was the incolvencies of storekeepers, six of whom were declared bankrupt. Farmers were again in the ascendant, with fifteen insolvencies, labourers being next with nine.
