The Stock Markkt. Messrs Abraham and Williams, of Palmerston North, report as follows: At Paltnerston North on Tuesday cattle were in moderate numbers, mostly useful store steers. The demand at auction was dull, but the bulk was disposed of afterwards. Sheep, in short supply, kept their value. At Palmerston yesterday cattle generally were dull of sale. Smaller sorts maintained their price, but grown bullocks, both fat and forward, were easier than last week. In the sheep market a quiet tone prevails. ~\Ye quote : Pahiatua : —Cattle: Fat cows £3 ss, 3-year steers £2 12s 6d, yearlings 15s to 225, small weaners 7s 6d. Sheep, 2-tooth ewes as 3d, 2-tooth wethers 6s. Palmerston:—Cattle: Fct bullocks £5 2s, grown store bullocks £3 16s, 3-year steers £3 3s, 2-year steers £2 13s to £3 3s, 2-year steers £2 8s to £2 lis, 15-months steers j£l 12s 6J, 20-month heifers .£1 9s sd, 2i-years heifers empty j£l 15s. Sheep: Mixed 2-tooths 4s 6d to 6s, forward ri 7s 6d. Mr Matthew Henry. Palmerston North, reports under date December 10th as follows : At 7'aluierston on Thursday there was a good y.rding of cattle. Sheep were a email class. although there were a good many buyers present. In cattle, however, the demand was almost nil, but the bulk changed before the clo-f of the day at prices very much in favor of the purchasers making a snre profit. Subjoined are quotations:—34- to 4 year bullocks JE3 7s 6d. 24-year steers £3 2s, 18-month steers £1 13s, yearlings 13s, weaners 12s, fat heifers £3 53.
