POLO.

[by LANCER, j The Hawke's Bay Polo Club held a successful practice at Stortford Lodge last Saturday. The ground was in good order and the ponies showed fine conditionAmongst those present were Messrs Chambers, Crosse, A. H. and H. Russelli Mackenzie, Nelson and others. Some half-dozen spells were played, and though at first slow the game improved very much towards the finish. The Club should be able to put two fairly strong teams into the field for the polo tournament next March. On Saturday next the Club proceed to Napier Park, where they meet the Wharerangi P.C. An interesting match is looked forward to. There are several matches arranged for the local ground nest month, amongst others one with the triple champions, the Manawatu P.C. This match should prove a great attraction to the sporting public.
