The Aliens Restriction Legislation introduced in the Legislative Assembly consists of a short bill. It provides that the Chinese Restriction Act applies to all Asiatics and African colored races and those of the islands jn the Indian and Pacific Ocean. The second Bill, Immigration Restriction Act, is drafted on the lines of the Natal Act, and provides for an education test and prohibits the immigration of paupers, idiots, insane or any person suffering from loathsome or dangerous disease, and criminals.

The masters and owners of vessels landing prohibited passengers will be liable to a penalty of £IOO increasable to £SOO for every five prohibited immigrants after the first five.
