Hawera, This day. Sergeant Slattery, in charge of the Hawera Station, died this morning. He had been over 35 years in the service, mostly in the South Island. Wellington', This day. At the Supreme Court, M'Leiman, for larceny, received 12 months. The Department of Agriculture received the following cable from the Agent-General : lluahine arrived ; butter in good condition. Butter 102s, market rising; cheese 425, market dull. The threatening state of the weather is interfering with the attendance at the show only about three thousand people being present so far. In the entire draughts the championship was won by A. Fraser's Earl of Salisbury.
