Chkistcjiurch, This day. The Akaroa Mail office was destroyed by fire early this morning. Everything was lost. Insurances, £350 in the London, Liverpool and Globe. Wellington , This day. At the Supreme Court, James Haugham got 2 years for indecent assault. His Honor remarked that the prisoner was not so weak minded but he ought to receive punishment. Auckland, This day. The body of a man found at Oratia has been identified as that of John Halsted, aged 44, who left the Costley Home on the 6th. Some injuries are said to be on his throat. Application will be made to the Board of Conciliation on Wednesday next by the Auckland branch of the Federated Seamens Union to show cause why the Board's decision in the matter of the recent industrial despute between that Union and the Northern Steamship owners has not been complied with.
