London, Nov. 18. The Times states that the employers are firmly determined to resist outside pressure. The chairman states that the Federation is not flexible on the questions of hours and wages, but rigid with regard to management and productiveness, and determined that the output of machinery shall not be restricted. A preliminary conference takes place on Monday. Nov. 14. Mr A. Sellicks, chairman of the executive, and Mr Barnes, secretary of the Amalgamated Engineers' Society, will attend as representatives of the engineers. They will urge that either Lord James or Mr Ritchie be appointed chairman.
