GENERAL ITEMS. (Per Press Association.) This day. Collier's wool-shed at Island Bay was destroyed by fire last night. The building was insured in the South British and Globe for £l5O. There was over £IOOO worth of wool in the shed and it was all destroyed. The case of Samuel v. Downes was argued in the Court of Appeal this morning. In this case a similar point is involved to that raised in the case of Ruddenklau v. Ruddenklau, under section 33 of " The Life Assurance Policies Act, 1884." The Court reserved its decision. Chkistchukch, This day. With regard to the proceedings at the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association meeting, after 11 o'clock last night the first amendment on being put was lost and one deligate, on behalf of his club, proposed several further amendments and in doing so entered on the distinction between words " prize " and "trophy.". These amendments gave rise to a further discussion, and some of the delegates proceeded to make themselves comfortable for the night. The fixing of a time-limit of 2mins proved effective and at 12.05 a.m. it was decided to adjourn the meeting for a month. Waipawa, This day. The cermony of " saluting the flag " was introduced at the Waipawa school yesterday in the presence of a large assemblage. Speeches were delivered by several townsmen and the children put through a number of evolutionsconcluding with the march past and&p salutation of the flag.
