REDUCING TAXATION.
THE TRANSVAAL PROPOSING REFORMS.

Pretoria, Oct. 11
A Select Committee of the Volksraad has submitted a report recommending a reduction be made in railway freights, on food stuffs, cattle, timber, and mining machinery. The suggested reduction ranges from ;>0 to 40 per cent.
The Committee also recommends that the direct taxes on the people be readjusted so as to afford large relief to small taxpayers.
