The ad van cp of the column under Brigadier-General Sir Binden Blood upon Nawaagai and the march of the detachment under the command of Brigadier-General Ellis upon Krappa Pass met with no opposition. A great force of Orakzais had gathered 400 yards from Fort Galistan and the tribesmen were making prepa rations to storm the fort when Brigadier - General Yentmrai Briggs opened fire with long range artillery, which dispersed the r. b Is. It is expected that this movement on the part of the Briti-h force will have the effect of preventing the tribesmen molesting the posts in Samana Ranflfc until Lieut.-General Sir W. Lockhari, Coimnandcr-in-Chtef of the force-.? in the Punjaub, arrive-; from England to conduct the expedition to Tirah, a stronghold of the Afridis.
