New Plymouth, This day,

John Shaw, a very old settler, died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon. An inquest is being held. Woodville, This day.

A boy 8| years of age, the son of Joseph Ebbstt, of Maharahara, was burned to death on Friday night. His dress caught fire during the temporary absence of his mother. The child was terribly injured about the body and face. He died at midday. The Kumeroa mail-cart capsized on the Napier road yesterday afternoon. Messrs Foster, Pratt, and Sewell (Palmerston North) were passengers. The former had his lelt wrist broken. A lady passenger also had her leg injured.

John Leslie, a farmer of Otakeho, was killed last night through the capsizing of his trap.

Three accidents are reported from Napier as having occurred yesterday. A man named Barrow had his leg broken at tho Spit, a pas-enger by the Patea coach had his jaw fractured by a fall, and a boy had his arm badly hurt through falling off a fence.
