THE QUEEN'S PRIZE. THE PROGRESS OF TIIE SHOOTING. (Per Press Association.—Copy n)i fit.) London, July 21. Shooting for the first stage of the Queen's prize Sergeants Hill and Scott tied for the bronze medal with the record scores of 102. There were also two scores of 101 and twelve of 100. Of the two thousand competitors 291 who scored 91 and over are included in the 300 who compete at the next stage. The remaining nine places will be shot fo% by 100 riflemen who scored 93. The New Zealand aggregate scores were :—Howe, 96 ; Hawthorne, 9-3 ; King, Richardson, and Harris, 94 ; Ballinger, Williams, and Simpson. 93 ; Sergeant Sommerville, 92 ; Webster, 89: Strachan, 87; Hazard, 83 ; Banks, 84 ; Major Sommerville, 71. In the Daily Graphic match 45 competitors, including Lieut-Colonel Kelly, of Victoria, made possibles. Kelly and Mitche'i, of Queensland, were among the sixteen who gained places in the three tie shots.
