(IVr I'/>•>•< Wellington, This day. Carious weather continues. For the last two nights heavy falls of r.tin with strong blasts of wirul were experienced. It has rained every this week and pretty well every night for three weeks. The remaining cases against the Syrian traders were called on this morning but were adjourned to enable a settlement to be arrived at. The accused made an offer but the Customs refused to accept it, and according to present appearances the prosecutions will proceed this afternoon. Auckland, This day. Mrs Eliza Nelson' boarding house, about 20 rooms, was destroyed by fire early this morning. The origin is unknown. The furniture is insured for £IOO. The damage is estimated at £IOOO. A dead body found in the harbor has been identified as William Forrester Dawson. New Plymouth, This day. The Hon. W. Hall-Jones arrived from Waitara this morning and received deputations. IJe addresses a public meeting this evening, afterwards leaving for Auckland. Dune din, This Day. The Electric Dredge which started work yesterday within 100 yards of Cromwell township struck rich gold in the centre of the river. The tables this morning showed over 103 ozs. of gold.
