Accidents and Fatalities.
(Bit Telegraph). (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, This day. A man, apparently a swagger, was picked up by a constable in Lichfield street on Tuesday night. After his arrest he had several fits. He was taken to the hospital, where he died last night. He was about 40 years of age, but his name is unknown. Half of a return ticket from Christchurch to Eakaia was found on him. Christchurch, July 9. At an inquest on Mrs Richardson (widow of the Rev J. B. Richardson, lost in the Tararua), who was found drowned in the river Avon last night, a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. She had been in a melancholy and depressed state lately. Auckland, July 9. John Rose, an old man between GO and 70, was killed by falling off a dray he was driving on the Onehunga road. Invercargill, July 9. Two sawmill hands were brought from Stewart Island to the hospital to-day badly injured. They were trollying logs, and on coming down an iucline the trolly got beyond control and capsized the loads upon the men. Lowker had a foot crushed and his face injured, and Goodall a thigh fractured.
