Accidents and Fatalities.

(By Telegeaph.) (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. At the inquest on Cenci, drowned in the harbor yesterday, the evidence showed that deceased went into the water almost alongside the Thorndon . baths at a time when public bathing was prohibited. The jury returned a verdict of accidental drowning while bathing. No evidence was adduced of domestic trouble, nor was any evidence produced why Cenci should be absent from the office at the time he was supposed to be on duty. * Another gun accident is reported by the Riverton paper. Mr John Grey, of Te Tua, when out shooting last week, placed his loaded gun against a tree, when by some means it went off, the ■ charge entering his arm at the wrist, penetrating the fleshy part and coming out at the elbow without injuring the bone. While Mr T. Munt, of Wellington, was cycling down the Rimutaka on Sunday his bicycle ran away with him, and in order to save himself from" a precipice on one side of the road the rider turned his wheel into a rock face on the other side. The crash was sufficient to smash the machine, while the rider's hands, eye and face were so severly cut that he became unconscious for a considerable time. Ob Friday afternoon Martyn, of Ohoka, was driving/home from Southbrook, along thcTfDrain road, when the blinkers came off the horse and it bolted. There being imminent danger of a collision with a loaded dray, Mrs Martyn jumped out of the trap, and falling on her head, was rendered unconscious. She was carried into Mrs Stevenson's nearby, and was attended by Dr Baber. Although she was unconscious for a long time, her injuries fortunately proved to be less serious than was at first anticipated, and she was sufficiently recovered on Saturday to be removed* home.
