NAPIER NOTES.

. [Fkoji our own Correspondent.] Napier, This Day. OENEKAL ITEMS. The search for the bodies of the remainder of the rescue party was continued yesterday, but was fruitless. Dean Hovell lectures to-night on " Cathedrals of Old England," on behalf of the relief fund. Mayor Swan yesterday received a wire from Auckland asking if the accounts of the floods had not been exaggerated. He replied that the damage had been rather underestimated. At least I'loo.ooo will be required for the settlers and for the support of the widows and children of those drowned. The Herald understands that there is a strong probability of another morning paper being established in Wellington shortly. If report be true the proprietors of the local journal are competent to speak on that point.
