The son of Wapiti may not sport silk this season. * J. Vincent, the local trainer, has purchased Errand Boy. A Sydney cable annouces the death of Fred l'annetti, a well-known racing man in this colony. lie owned Rewi, Escapade, and oilier horses. Viking won TattersiU's Cup at Adelaide on Saturday. At the Sydney races on Saturday the unlucky Sabretache got home first in the Rous Handicap but was disqualified for crossing and the race awarded to the Carbine horse Facile. Booties won the Steeplechase, Tayforth second, Ulysses third. Seven started. The win must bo counted fiukv, for Tayforth baulked at one of the jumps and was only beaten by half a length. The A.J.C. Plate was won by Newhaven, Coil second, and Fucile third. Battalion and True Blue also ran. Although Newhaven won by 20 lengths tht? time limit was exceeded and the prize monev will be rut down bv half. Time, 6-9A-. * Miss Ennm'won the Criterion at Auckland on Saturday, Picklock second, Rex third. Div. 1.3 16s. Kings wood won the Steeplechase and returned L.'l 19s. Porangipotae secured the Grandstand Handicap. Div,, 1,17 13s.
