The delay in the receipt of the English and foreign cable messages which has taken place since yesterday morning is caused by the interruption of the Malta-Alexandria c-ablcs, the messages being despatched by alternative routes. The wheel race between N.S.W. and England resulted in a win for the local men. The five-mile race between Megson (N.S.W.) and Green (England) resulted in a splendid finish, Megson winning by half-a-length in llmin l;lsec. Petitions are being largely signed in lavor of the commutation of the death sentence on Philiips.
