A WESTRALIAN WEDDING.

A wedding in the Westralian wilds is a great social event. A Victorian who went over there with his three unmarried daughters recently gave the last of the trio away in holy matrimony to a publican. The bridegroom kept open house in honor of the occasion, and the whole neighborhood got on such a woeful bust that seven drunks were found in the bridal apartment when the bride wanted to retire. They were carried out and left in a row in the back yard. Then it was discovered that the bridegroom was missing, and the most vigorous search among the drunks failed to bring him to light; the general theory was that he had got sunstroke and wandered away into the bush, and the widowed bride wept all night. Next morning the servant girl gave notice on the ground that a strange inebriate had taken possession of her room during the night and that she had been forced to take refuge under the house. It subsequently proved to be the bridegroom, and when he was awakened by an energetic process of dry-blowing he apologised handsomely to the girl and made things all right. Then the best man was rescued out of the manger in the stable, and the happy party sat down to breakfast. After that they started on their honeymoon in a buggy with the temperature at 116, but one of the horses dying of sunstroke they returned on top of a passing ox-con-veyance, and decided to dispense with the proposed tour and settle down without ceremoney.
