Wellington, This day
In the Wellington election petition, the Court, after hearing argument, ordered a recount of the votes. It is undii-t>od this will take at least two flays, though the recount will fee sip fined to the votes given to Fisher and Atkinson. Meanwhile the hearing of the other portions of the petition proceeds. Witnesses were called by Mr Chapman who, according to the roll appeared to have voted twice, but they said they only voted once. Council applied to have each of the other votes disallowed on the ground of personation. Mr Skerrett contended that the evidence was not sufficient for disallowal, but as his witnesses were not ready, the further consideration of this point was adjourned till tomorrow.
