Elizabeth Windsor, a married woman residing at South lhuiedin, while suffering from the effects of drink attempted suicide by scratching her throat. The wound is not dangerous. TiMAftc, This day. R. -I. Goodman, Chief Postmaster here, died this morning after a very brief illness. lie had been indisposed about a fortnight but only laid up on Saturday. The cause of death was liver and kidney complications. Very great regret is felt by the townspeople, as deceased was much liked and respected. Auckland, This day. Sailed —Tasmania, for south. Passengers—Misses Lecky, ('leghorn, and Tye: Mesdames Gil herd, Whitelaw and two children, Attenborrow ; Messrs Stubley, Andrews, Newman, "Whitelaw.
