Jt started in the bush near the mine smelter's, ami spread to the township of Pengahani. totally destroying one side of the main street. ' Fully sixty families were burned out, including many bu-mi - places. The damage is ('siiiiiat'-d at L"!"i.U(M). A miner named P.rent v,as burned to death. The tire surrounded his camp, and with his two mates lie tried to escape'. J>rent is known to have failed, and the other two are reported mis-ing. The damage is unknown. but heavy.
