Opening of Wellington Exhibition
[By Telegraph.] [Special to Standard.] Wellington, This day. The town was an fete to-day in honor of the opening of the Exhibition. Hundred of visitors arrived by the morning trains, and the hotel accommodation is severely taxed. Long before 2 o'clock streams of people wended their way to the Exhibition Buildings, and when the Governor arrived there was a tremendous attendance. Lord Glasgow formally declared the Exhibition open, and made a few remarks with reference to the progresshe had noticed in the colony during his term of office. A strong body of marines from the Wallaroo and Lizard was in attendance. Everything points to a most successful show. The attendance this afternoon far exceeded the most sanguine anli -ipatione. Mr S. Brown, the President received congratulations from all quarters.
