THE SALVATION ARMY.
THE PROGRAMME OF THE FUTURE. Sydney, Nov. 16. Herbert Booth, m addressing an immense Salvation Army gathering, announced a new plan of campaign. He stated that the " General " had decided to carry war into and conquer the whole of the Eastern Archipelago. This was a new missionary field with a population of 40,000,000. The " Army " of Australia would be asked to give its flesh and blood to conquer the heathen. He warned the soldiers who intended to volunteer that they might be landed in Borneo with no better prospect than be served up for breakfast. With regard to the work in Australasia it was intended to establish new food and shelter depots in the leading centres, including Christchurch ; a hospital corps, with a staff of nursing sisters, a league of mercy, a young Army corps, a transport corps, and open a new farm colony near Melbourne. It was also intended to extensively develop the wood supplying and rag and bone industries.
