The Australians at Wellington.
(By Telegraph.) [Special to Standard.] Wellington, This day. The attendance at the cricket match yesterday afternoon was not nearly so large as on the previous day. The Wellington eighteen were all disposed of for 124. Holdsworth made 30 and Warren 23. Levers hit out for 15, while Tucker and Water made 10 each. Giffen was dead on the wicket, getting 7 for 38, Trumble 4 for 36, and M'Kibbin 4 for 38. Jones proved a frost. After an adjournment the Australians went to the wickets and when stumps were drawn the score stood at two for 56, with Iredale (15) and Hill (2) not out. Darling played a dashing game for 37, but Eady succumbed rather easily. The match will be resumed to-day. Later. A strong wind is blowing and rain is threatening. The match was resumed at 1i.30 a.m. The attendance is limited. The wicket is in fair order. At the luncheon adjournment the Australians had four wickets down for 119. Iredale, c Ilouldsworth, b Smith 33 Hill, c Upham, b Smith 30 Giffen, not out ... ... ... 7 Gregory, not out... ... ... 9 The Australians will probably declare their innings closed about three o'clock. At 2.30 the Australians had lost six wickets for 162 runs. A north-west gale is now raging, making things extremely disagreeable.
