A Notable Jubilee.

HONORING Tin; MARQUIS OF NORMANDY'S SON. The London correspondent of the Auckland Herald states :—The eldest son of your respected Governor of former days, the Marquis of Normanby, attained his 50th birthday a few diiVri ago. The present Marquis, who is a clergyman of tlx. 1 Church of England, has been better known by his honorary eldest son title as the Karl of Mulgrave—and is a most vigorous pries'; of the extreme High Church .stamp, and an ardent votary of temperance. He is, or was, when last I met him, a spare, aVjeticlooking man, apparently all nerves and energy. As if his ordinary work were not more than sufficient for one of such slender physique, Lord Normanby actually has established at Mulgrave Castle, a high-class school for boys which he personally superintends, and which he himself teaches with the aid of an excellent staff of masters. He does so mainly with the object of obtaining and influence for good, as lie is exceedingly fond of boys and laments that so many should be launched in life without having come under affectionate spiritual guidance. On the Rev. Marquis' natal day 150 of his tenantry presented him with an illuminated address of congratulation and a luxurious Victoria carriage, while o'.her friends appended a separate address and a cheque f° r £3GO. The children of the estate were entertained bv Lord Normanby's sesters, Lady i ll!, smere and Lady Laura Hampton, who also aided their brother in receiving the guests, including Sir Fleetwood and Lady Edwards. Everybody was presented with a souvenir of the Marquis' jubilee.
