Maivie! as candidates t'or Christchuroh. A committee was appointed to interview the Liberty League to endeavor to obtain the support of that body for these candidates. He -poke in support i»f Liberal measures ami received unamiuj-is vote of thanks, refusing to accept a vote of confidence as against the principle of the ballot. I U M M*. This day. The Women's Franchise League held a ballot to select candidates lor the C:ty, and the choice fell upon Messrs Hutchison. Millar, and Piiikerton. IxvkkcaßiHlX. This (lav. Mr -T. W. Kelly. M.H.1:., addressed his coii-titnem.- last night, when despite a daw n pour, of rain he bad an overflow ing audience. He went fully into the work of the session, and with regard to the contention of his opponents that he ought to have re-igned when he ceased to support the 'io\eminent in toto, be challenged them to come on the platform and state any single instance in which he had departed from the pledges he gave in J WW; there was no response. The meeting was at times lively, but Mr Kelly got an excellent hearing, and a vote of thanks and confidence was carried with little opposition. Aivklan'D. This day. Mr Theo. Cooper has been requisitioned to stand for the City electorate. WoonviLi.n. This day. Three aspirants for the Pahiutua seat — Matiisty <Opposition). O Meara (Government). and Taylor tlndependent^Liberal) have addressed meetings here. The two former got a vote of thanks, and Mr Tavlor a vote of thanks and coutidenee.
