BROTHER TAYLOR TO THE RESCUE.

[To the Editor.] Sir, —I notice in your Saturday's paper a composition from a individual signing himself " "W. Taylor." After several times carefully wading through this party's " olla poreda ' I have come to the conclusion that Brother Taylor wishes to take up the cudgels for John Hosking. Truly that gentleman must be highly honored in having such a good Christian to vindicate his cause. I cannot help remarking that although Brother Taylor must have brought tremendous pressure to bear on his mental calibre to extract the grammatical letter in Saturday's issue. he failed to extract a small coin from his pocket to pay for admission to .John Hosking's lecture. But perhaps Brother Taylor believes in the golden maxim that charity begins at home, especially when spending the Sabbath shooting one's neighbor's pigs. It is ignite refreshing to meet with good Christians now -a - days— God-fearing men that do unto others as they would be done by. I am pleased to know at least one web-footed Christian lives on the Hastings Hat. I must ask John Hosking to introduce me to Brother Taylor. I would infer from his letter that he is of a cultivated turn of mind From the quotations in his effusions I would also conclude that Brother Taylor is an angel unawares, flying round his little enclosure and discoursing sweet eloquence (in a Christian spirit) to his next door neighbor. I would advise him, however, to remember the fate of Cousin Jack who took up the pen instead of the spade,—l am, &c., I Prqbosls.
