A Child Burned to Death.

[Fkom Our Own Correspondent.] Napier, This day. A sad fatal accurred in Napier last evening, the victim being a little girl aged about 7 years, named Mary Chalmers. Mrs Chalmers, who resides in Park street, went outside leaving her daughter in the kitchen. Hearing screams she ran in to find her daughter enveloped in flames. With all haste she enveloped the girl in sacks and smothered the lire but she had sustained such severe burns that she died in the hospital, where she was immediately removed, shortly afterwards, having been scorched from the knees upwards. An inquest will be held to-day.
