An Auckland jury found that Mrs Wakefield committed suicide " while of unsound mind. A man named Shut'le worth, of Taipaki, handed himself in a whare because he had lost money at the Auckland races sent by his mother to lake him to England. "Temporary insanity " was the verdict of th«_- jury. At Woodville yesterday Robert Henry Crocker and Harold Heath were each sentenced to two months' bard labor in Wellington gaol to-day for stealing two saddles and bridles. They were also committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court in Wellington for stealing fvo horses The thefts were committed the day after uicslate race meeting, and the prisoners were arrested at Waipawa. Mrs Rhodes has donated €2OO to the Wellington Cathedral fund. The annual meeting of the Bank of * New Zealand was fixed for Thursday, October 13th,but a further adjournment for a fortnight will be asked. This decision was arrived at at a meeting of directors yesterday afternoon.
