Xinetv thousand men were under anus, and half a million spectators looked on. Sixteen thousand cavalry executed a charge in splendid style, stopping only a few yards in front of the Czar. The Czar in reply expressed his delight at the spectacle they had just seen, and endorsed President Faures remarks about the friendship. The armies of the two nations, he said, would he animated by the profound sentiment of fraternity. While crossing the frontier on his way to Darmstadt the Czar wired to President Faure that he felt that the nation's heart was with him and the recollections of his visit to Paris would be deeply engraved on his memory. M-scow. Oct. 11. The Moscow Gazette says the speeches at Chalons are a solid guarantee of peace, of greater value than a written treaty.
