SPORTING NEWS.

TRAINING NOTES. [By Gipsy Grand.] The racecourse presented rather an animated appearance this morning, fully fifty horses being engaged in exercise—some walking, some doing half and threequarter pace, and others going at top. Some good finishes were witnessed, notably those between Lotion, New Forest, and Jack Tar, and St. Connon and three of his stable companions. The first to move were The Shrew and Torpina, both of whom are looking in good condition. They were associated over a mile spin and finished at top. Douglas and Prince Charlie were sent twice round on the tan, the former holding his companion safe all the way. Flaneur did a mile and a quarter in a very taking way, and is a much improved horse since liis last appearance hi public. Aphony was accompanied by Barshot once round, both horses finishing well together. Blackberry accomplished twice round at three-quarter pace. New Forest and Lotion jumped off together for a mile spin, and at the six-furlong-post were picked up by Jack Tar. All three were going a "cracker," and when finishing there was very little the difference between them. Orion's Belt was sent a fast mile, and appeared to relish it. He looked very fit. Popgun and a two-year-old were associated over a very fast mile. The latter was no good to the son of Maxim after six furlongs had been accomplished. Penrose, with Watts up, accomplished a mile in a satisfactory manner. St. Connon, accompanied by three stable companions, did a fast five furlongs, and looked in splendid condition. Iphimede was sent over a mile at top, and finished very strongly. Amongst the other horses doing slow work were Brooklet, Waterston, Lorenzo, and a number of others. CROOKED RUNNING. At an inquiry into Le Yar's running in the New Stakes 011 Tuesday, the rider, Macnamara was suspended for the remainder of the meeting, and Clark and Pay ten, the owner and trainer respectively, warned.
