The stallion Maltta dropped dead at Vincent Smith's stud near Melbourne yesterday. In his time Malua proved himself one of the greatest horses that ever raced in Australia. His greatest performances probably were his victories in the Melbourne Cup and Grand National Hurdles. As a sire he established a reputation through the agency of Malvolio, ■winner of the Melbourne Cap in 1891, and Maluma, winner of last Newmarket.
