GENERAL ITEMS. Melboukne, This day. The Presbyterian Federal Assembly has drawn up a petition to the Queen protesting against the Armenian atrocities. The Government expert in the Mines Department, who has been called on to explain his report on the Bnchan mine, states that the Department did not mislead the public. He formed the opinion that there were irregular branches of ore, which, if properly managed and treated with improved appliances, could be made to pay.
