THE HASTY DESPATCH OF MAKONI. Cape Town, Sept. 9. Major Watts has been suspended by the Governor of the Cape in consequence of the hasty manner in which the Matabela Chief, Makoni, was despatched, and an inquiry into the circumstances of the affair has been ordered. It is stated that the Major ordered the chief to be shot fearing that he would effect his escape. September 10. Twenty thousand Taharale natives are ravaging North Madagascar.
