Thornton's eleven thus won by an innings and 36 runs. AGAINST SOUTH OF ENGLAND. Sept. 3. The final match of the tour began at Hastings to-day against another strong team, representing the South of England, composed of : —Grace, Townsend, Stoddart, Richardson, Abel, Ilayward, Brockwell, Lohmann, Butt, Ilearne, and Kellick. Eady and Johns are resting. The attendance was good and the weather fine, but the wicket was heavy owing to the recent rain. The Australians have lost 5 wickets for 90.
