GENEEAL ITEMS. Sydney, August 25. Rattray, arrested in connection with the Coroinandel robbery, has been remanded to Auckland. Melbourne, August 25. Obituary. The Hon. G. Davies, a well-known horse breeder and an enthusiastic sportsman. The financial editor of the Argus in an article makes reference to certain negotiations passing between the shareholders of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company and the "B" debenture holders, which may possibly lead to misconception. The real facts are that the " B " debenture holders have been approached and certain modifications suggested, but the matter is purely one of a bargain between two interested parties—the shareholders on one side and the " B " holders on the other. The company's business in the colonies, iie says, cannot in any way be affected by the progress or results of these negotiations.
