THE AUSTRALIANS AT HOME.
AGAINST GLOUCESTERSHIRE. GLOUCESTERSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 17 RUNS. A ONE INNINGS VICTORY FOR THE AUSTRALIANS. London. August 21. The rain abated somewhat yestenlay atternoon, and the match ua? resumed. The Home team had, however, scarcely begun their second innings when rain again stopped the play, there being no wickets down for three runs when the stumps were drawn for the day. Later. The Gloucestsbire match was resumed to-day in fine weather, with a heavy drying wicket, and the home team, who had lost no wickets for three runs in the few minutes play of the previous day cnt a very sorry figure on the treacherous wicket. Both Trumble and M'Kibbin, who bowled throughout the innings without a change were simply unplayable, and the County eleven were dismissed for the wretched score of 17, of which Grace sen. made 9. The innings only lasted 50 minutes, and Trumble, who performed the "hat trick," took six wickets for 8, and M'Kibbin four for 7. The Australians thus won by an innings and 54 runs. The visitors only bowled 19 overs in the second innings. Result of tour :—Matches played, 80 ; won, 18 ; lost, 5 ; drawn, 7. The next match is against Somerset, and commences to-day.
