The Banking Inquiry.

"A BEAR GARDEN." [By Telegraph.] (From our Special Correspondent.) Wellington, this day. The Banking Committee's proceedings were a perfect bear garden during the first half-hour of this morning's sitting. Mr Montgomery has withdrawn from the Committee, complaining of the Premier's refusal to withdraw his insulting reference. Mr Booth's examination by Mr Seddon was resumed. In the course of his evidence he said that most of of the writing-off could be produced, but he did not promise to produce it. By 37 to 26 the House refused Mr Montgomery's motion, that he be relieved from further attendance on the Banking Committee.
