(Evening Post.) In the Legislative Assembly, Sydney, a motion was carried that all school books used in the State schools of the colony should be locally compiled and printed. Albury vignerons aro urging the Government to take more stringent precautions against the spread of phylloxera. A witness informed the Mildura Enquiry Commission that the cost of advertising the settlement was between £40,000 and £50,000. Work has been stopped at the Fitzroy Ironworks at Mittagong, N.S.W., in consequence of the terms and conditions imposed in connection with the Government contract for 150,000 tons of steel rails.
