A Milk Filter.
Pr Murdoch, of Christchurch, has recently perfected and patented a simple appliance intended to prevent the dissemination of disease by germs contained in milk. It is called the " Anti - Microbe Milk Filter," and const is of a receiver, into which the milk is poured, passing through a strainer into a filter, which is the chief feature of the invention, the milk rising instead, of descending through it, and the various bacilli thus being left in the bottom of the filter, from whence they are washed out by a stream of hot water been passed the reverse wajr through. The specific gravity of bacilli is greater than that of milk, and therefore, they naturally fall to the bottom while the fluid is passing through the filter. Where the usual method of filtration followed many of the 1 germs might be forced through the filtering materia!, whieh in this invention is glass-wool. Dr Murdoch has made arrangements for his invention, testimonials to the efficiency of which have been received, to be sold at prices within the means of all, though electro-plated sets have already bfen ordered. main pant in its
