With 497 runs to get to save a one innings' defeat, the Leicestershire 1 commenced their second innings, and at the call of time had made 170 runs for the loss of nine wickets, the match thus ending in a draw. The Home team required 327 runs to save a one innings' defeat with only one wicket to fall. The principal contributors were: — Marriott. ... ... 86 Pcugher ... ... 26 Geeson, not out ... 48 Giffen was in great form with the ball, securing fourteen wickets at a cost of 119 runs during the match. AGAINST ALL ENGLAND. London, July 16. The second match against an All England Eleven commenced at Manchester to-day, when there was a big attendance of the public. The wicket was good, but the weather was very bad, making things very unpleasant. . The Englishmen are : Stoddart, Grace, Jackson, McLaren, Ranjitsinghi, Abel, Richardson, Hearne, Brown, Briggs, and Lilley. The Australian team is composed of:—Trott, Giffea, Trumble, Jones, McKibbin, Donaan, Iredale, Darling, Gregory, Hill, and Kelly, Trott won the toss, and Iredale and Darling opened the innings for th.e colonials. When the score had reached 50 Darling was caught behind the sticks. Iredale made three boundary hits o the Yorkshire bowler in one over. The scores up to the present are : Australians. —Ist innings.
