ENGLISH TRADE. THE NATIONAL BANK'S BUSINESS INCREASING. DEATH # OF SIR JOHN PENDER. THE RECENT TIDAL WAVE. CHOLERA IN EGYPT. London, July 7. The wool sales are brisk, crossbreds being chiefly in demand. The imports for June show an increuse of £1,335,000 and the exports an increase of £2,780,000. At the annual meeting of the National Bank of New Zealand the Chairman said that there had been a large increase in business since the absorption of the Colonial Bank by the Bank of New Zealand. Sir John Pender is dead. Thirty thousand British miners have refused a reduction in wages. At the trial of Hyatt and Henochsberg dry gold-saving process 96 per cent, of the precious metal was extracted. A circular has been sent by the London Chamber of Commerce to the Colonial Chambers pointing out that an annual loss of £54,000 occurs to the colonies owing to the reckless use of the knife in dressing hides, while sheepskins are depreciated to the extent of £IOO,OOO. July 8. The Diseases in Animals Bill has passed the House of Lords. Cholera is spreading in the Soudan. It has now broken out among the troops and populace at Ambigol and Akisheh. Paris, July 8.
