NAPIER NOTES.
[From Ouk Chvx Cohkesposdext.] Napier, July G. Football in 'Jlawkc's Bay is dying fast. On (Saturday about 40 men were picked to play a trial rep match, the selection of the team to meet Waipawa to depend upon the form shown. Not half of them turned up, and people who had paid to come in were asked to witness a game which would have disgraced third championship play. Mr Logan very kindly acted as referee. A third championship match, West End v. Clive resulted in a win for the home team by 7 points to nil. The quantity of shingle thrown up oh the Napier beach within the past two weeks is unequalled in the history of the place. Pollard's Company has been playing to record business since Tuesday last, and the management has decided to play one more night, concluding their season to-morrow night. Several members of the company assisted in the local choirs jestenday.
