ANOTHER DANGER.
Thk view is held by a good many people that the colony's credit in the London market will be seriously affected by the banking scandals, and we are of the same opinion. We have heard, although we are in no position to vouch for its accuracy, that a company, which was on the eve of flotation in London, and which was to engage in trade in New Zealand, collapsed as soon as the details of the proceedings before Mr Justice Williams were published in the London papers. The effect of the scandals must be to lower our credit, but that is not a sufficient reason, as some would urge, for stopping all further inquiry. Wo believe it will be found that our credit will re-estab-lish itself if we make a full and fair inquiry, and expose those responsible for any wrong-doing in connection with the banking legislation. The affair so far has had no effect on the stocks of tke colony, the and 4-per-cents having actually advanced in price during the past week.
