There was a lengthy discussion in the City Council relative to the morals of Auckland last-night, when a deputation consisting of both sexes addressed the Corporation. It was ultimately resolved to ask the Government to setup a Royal Commission to inrjuire into the best means to prevent the further spread of disease in boll) sexes throughout the colony. The Rev. L. M. Isitt, the well-known temperance advocate, received a welcome home in thy Foresters' Hall tonight on Tiis return from Europe from the Prohibition League and other temperance organisations. The iiev. W. J. Williams, president of the League, presided, and a resolution was carried recognising "his splendid services to the temperance cause in the colony, and according him a hearty welcome on his return. Nki.son, -June 19. George Woodward, a native of Nelson, and licensee of the Windsor Castle Hotel, was found dead in bed this morning. 1 >eecased was apparently in his usual health yesterday. It is supposed to be a case of heart disease. An inquest is probable. \Yki,i,in<;ton-, -June 19. Mr George Mathieson has been reappointed a member of the Hawko's Bay Land Board, and Mr Henry Humphries to be revising barrister for Hawke's Bay under the Building Societies' Act.
