A rumor to the effect that Detective Kirby will not appear at Wellington when called upon to answer the charges brought against him tomorrow, has caused quite a ripple of excitement here. it is understood, upon excellent authority, that tho report is substantially correct, but there arc no particulars. Tho " man in the street " says his destination is Brazil.
