THE FRENCH REJOICE
St. Petersburg, May 26. The coronation ceremony was performed to-day in the presence of a brilliant assemblage. Great demon strati 0113 were indulged in by the populace. The Dowagor Empress was present at the service, and was much alloc ted. Tho Czar recited the creed, placed the crown 011 his head, ascended tho throne, and assumed the sceptre. Ho then crowned the Empress, who was kneeling before him, and gently raised and kissed her. The annointing ceremony was then performed, after which the Emperor partook of the sacrament, which concluded the service. The Royal personages returned to the palace amid great cheering. Congratulations were received from Royal personages present, and from European and Foreign Royalty and nobility. The Czar has announced that he will remit arrears of taxes in European Russia and Poland, reduce the 4 land tax by half, penal sentences by one-third, and life sentences to twenty years. Siberian exiles after twelve years will be released without the restoration of civil rights, but political exiles wno have led blameless lives ■ will have them restored. The Czar has assured M. Flourens that France could reckon on his thorough, support on the Egyptian question. Pakis, May 27. The coronation of the Czar was celebrated with great rejoicings.
