[Special to Standard.] Wellington. This day. A monster meeting of those opposed to the introduction of the Irish Textbook into public schools was held last night iu the Opera House-. Messrs Grundy and Ilulke, State school headmasters, were among the speakers. Several resolutions were submitted hearing on the importance of maintaining the present- education system, and were enthusiastically received by the audience. Much interest is being taken here in the Intercolonial rowing events to be decided on the Parramatta River, New South Wales, this afternoon. Local opinion inclines to the belief that the New Zealand representatives will give a good account of themselves. The crews in the Fours are as follows : New Zealand (white, with maroon facings) : W.
